Terminologies used in hair care

Now for every new natural it is hard to know all the words that the old naturals throw around and it gets confusing. On this post am going to explain the basic words used in the natural world in the easiest form possible. This list will be updated constantly so don't think these are the only terminologies.

1. Prepoo.
This is when you apply your favorite oil or conditioner to your hair before you shampoo it so that your hair isn't left dry after.
This process can be done a night before your wash day or an hour before you begin to wash your hair.  After you apply your oil or conditioner I personally use coconut and castor mixture, you put on your shower cap and go on with your chores or work as you wait for your hair to soak up all the goodness.
2. Cowash
This is when you use a conditioner to wash your hair then proceed straight to deep conditioning.
3. Deep conditioning
After you shampoo or Cowash your hair, the next step is the most important,to deep condition will leave your hair feeling soft or strong depending on the deep conditioner you using. You can either deep condition with heat from a steamer or use body heat by wearing a shower cap or the good old plastic bag, which I must say works well.
4. Acv
It simply means apple cider vinegar.
5. Biotin
It's a vitamin that's aids hair growth,its known as vitamin H.
6. Jbco
This stands for Jamaican black castor oil.
7. Evoo
Represents extra virgin olive oil.
8. Protein treatment
This protein treatment comes in two, one is the light protein treatment which can be done every two weeks or weekly or the hard protein treatment which can be done every 6 weeks. Both leave the hair feeling strong. This is done on clean hair after its been shampooed.
9. Moisturizing treatment
Moisture the most important secret to hair growth. This should  be done every other wash day. This will leave your hair feeling as soft as ever, even something as easy as conditioner mixed with your favorite oils does the trick.
10. Lco or loc
L stands for liquid
O stands for oil
C stands for cream
These two methods help retain moisture to the hair. Liquid can be anything from water to liquid leave in conditioner and the oil can be avocado oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil and cream can be your whipped Shea butter if it's heavy then choose a lighter cream like the Cantu hair lotion.
11. Spritz
This is when you spray your hair with a water mixture to add extra moisture to the hair. For best results use a spray bottle.
