Protective styling.

Protective styling really helps when you trying to get a breather and just trying to prevent your hands from forever playing with your hair.
There are two categories of protective styling in the natural world;
1. low manipulative styles
These usually last from one to two weeks depending on when you have your wash day. Some of the low manipulative styles are twists, Bantu knots, flat twists, cornrows, braids without added extensions, personally i love me some flat twists and these babies stay for two weeks. All i do i spray my hair a water and Aloe Vera juice mix then seal with coconut and Castor oil mix and am good to go.

 2. Long term protective styles
These last for 6 to 8 weeks the brave ones go as far as 12 weeks. these include box braids, Havana twists, weaves and anything you can manage to keep that long. I usually do box braids and twists because they are easy to maintain for me,  i can easy spritz my hair without worrying about matting and that damp smell.

I usually install my box braids and twists because i am tender headed and i cant handle the pressures of going to a salon and sitting there for hours and trying to pretend like am strong enough lol, the struggle is real in salons.
Of cos one has to take precautions before installing any protective style, during the period which you have the style and after the take down but that's a topic for another day.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Blessed day.
